The design language and combination of various knotting techniques that Mareike Lienau developed are shown sculpturally for the first time in these poufs. The knotted wool in an unseen form gives the objects a strong presence. The poufs carry traditional influences as well as a modern approach – so they are full of freshness and interesting contrasts.

Fred is part of Lyk Carpet’s “edition 25”. All 25 pieces are numbered and stamped.

Mareike Lienau designs knotted objects and unique carpets for her label Lyk Carpet, which are knotted by hand in Nepal. It questions the ostensible function of the carpet and establishes new viewing and usage habits. With her authentic objects, she enjoys and creatively shows crafts and the material wool in a new, unseen and positively extravagant way.

Modern design on the one hand and traditional craftsmanship on the other: with Lyk Carpet, both come together to create a high-quality, aesthetically pleasing end product. The design comes from Berlin and is produced in Nepal. From the product to the company – the Berlin label thinks holistically and acts fairly, socially and environmentally friendly in every aspect. As a partner, Lyk Carpet works with the label STEP, which is committed to the well-being of workers in the handmade carpet industry. This also applies to the working conditions and environmentally friendly product processes for the Nepalese manufacturer, with which Mareike Lienau has worked closely since 2009.
