Shyrdaks are precious felt carpets from Kyrgyzstan with a tradition that goes back thousands of years. The Kyrgyz nomadic women make the carpets by hand and create unique pieces that fascinate with their unique beauty and sensual tactile experience. The symbols and colours tell the unmistakable story of the creation and origin of each Shyrdak. A carpet is made by the entire village community during one year in pure handicraft and in a worldwide unique technique. The tradition is passed down from generation to generation.

Shyrdaks are very robust and easy to clean. You can clean your carpet with a hoover (without brush function!) and with reduced suction power. Stains can be dabbed off with a damp cloth, but should not be washed out. We recommend shaking out and beating out your Shyrdak from time to time. Each carpet is professionally cleaned in Switzerland with neutral soaps and water and protected against moth infestation for 10 years.

The carpet offered here is an exhibition piece in best condition. Nevertheless we recommend a possible refreshment of the moth protection after the purchase.
