Description

This vase is part of the handmade Alfonso series by Project 213A. The vases are inspired by the columnar rocks on the black sand beach of Reynisfjara on Iceland. One of many geological wonders on the island. The rocky sea stacks that rise behind the beach overlooking the black sand took shape naturally as lava rose, shaping and organically displacing individual layers. Seventeen individual layers are formed and displaced for the vase. Similar to the formation in Iceland, the vase rises from edge to edge like a pyramid.

The glaze of the colour “shiny white” is milky translucent in some places and reveals the basic colour of the stone. In the other colours the glaze is opaque, with the colours “graphite” and “brick” having a modern matt glaze. Each product is responsibly made in selected Portuguese factories and family-run workshops to offer considerate production methods while minimising wasteful practices.

No two pieces look the same. Each vase bears a discreet logo embossing.

Project 213A is a European design house founded in 2020 as the brainchild of four friends united by a common design philosophy. The brand’s aim is to create modern and unique furniture and home accessories that are timeless and committed to a more sustainable future. The designers’ name refers to a London address where all four founders lived at different times during their studies.
