Description

The Monstera are a new kind of flower pot that breathe new life into every room and every houseplant. This is not only due to the special legs and the high-gloss finish. The special plant pots of the Monstera family allow plants to break away from the windowsill and regain their natural freedom indoors as well. With its graceful roots, each Monstera plant pot forms an extension of a plant. The design thus sheds new light on the otherwise rigid and oppressive plant pot.

The fragile-looking legs of the Monstera are made of steel rods. These are bent by hand to the “roots” of the plant and covered with epoxy clay. This industrial chemical clay hardens itself. Large irregularities are filled, sanded and finally everything is covered with a layer of high-gloss white-grey lacquer. Watch this video about how the pots are made.

Since 2020 the Monstera have been part of the permanent collection of the Centre d’Innovation et de Design in Grand-Hornu (Belgium) since 2020 and are regularly shown at exhibitions, including the Lightness exhibition by Lidewij Edelkoort for Rado in Basel (2016), the international art fair for modern craft and design Collect in London (2018) and Plant Fever at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich (2022).
